Bochum vs Mainz Preview

Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel expects Bochum to provide his team with an even tougher test than Bayern Munich did three weeks ago.

Mainz beat Bayern 2-1 for a memorable Bundesliga victory, but despite the perceived difference in class between Bayern and struggling Bochum, Tuchel does not expect that to make tomorrow's trip to the Ruhr Stadion any easier.

"We are going to come up against opponents who will try with all their might to win their home game," he said.

"It is going to be really tough."

Bochum may have lost three times away from home, but they have yet to lose in front of their own fans and their coach Marcel Koller says this is a record which needs to be maintained.

"We have got to take strength from not having lost at home yet," he said.

"We have got to be passionate and determined, but also maintain the necessary calm."

Koller will have to make a change in goal since Philipp Heerwagen will miss the next month with a broken jaw.

The Swiss coach will decide between Rouwen Fernandes, the club's regular number one last season, and one of the club's longest serving players, Rene Renno, to replace Heerwagen, but he has no qualms about employing either of his back-up goalkeepers.

"It is important to give them our full faith, just like any other of the 10 players," he said.

Mainz are without the injured Miroslav Karhan while central defender Niko Bungert is a doubt with flu.
