Hannover 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Hannover 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Hannover remained without a home Bundesliga win this season as they were held by Borussia Dortmund in a classic game of two halves.

With only one point from two games at the AWD-Arena heading into today's games, Andreas Bergmann's men looked unlikely to add to that tally when Nuri Sahin deservedly put Dortmund ahead on the stroke of half-time courtesy of some poor defending.

But Didier Konan levelled three minutes after the restart to ensure a share of the spoils as Hannover took control in the second half.

Hannover goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz was quickly into the action as Dortmund dominated the opening stages, saving an effort from Nelson Valdez, who should have done better after finding himself in space.

Then Fromlowitz turned Tamas Hajnal's 20-yard strike behind for a corner.

After 24 minutes, the Hannover custodian produced another fine stop when Mohammed Zidan crossed from the right for Sahin, who turned his marker and shot goalwards from eight yards.

Finally the hosts started to threaten, Karim Haggui heading Arnold Bruggink's corner over the bar on the half-hour mark.

Dortmund stopper Roman Weidenfeller produced a good save eight minutes later to repel Constant Djakpa's 25-yard strike.

The visitors were rewarded for their first-half superiority when, moments before the break, Paulo Tinga's cross from the right completely evaded the Hannover defence and Sahin took advantage of the collective failure to slot the ball home from eight yards.

But the lead lasted just three minutes into the second period.

Konan latched onto a through ball and blasted a right-footed strike from 16 yards into the top right-hand corner.

Hannover were on top now, and Konan crossed from the right on the hour for Sofian Chahed, whose close-range shot was headed off the line.

Hajnal shot straight at Fromlowitz when he should have done better, while Konan's fine 40-yard effort was well saved by Weidenfeller.
