Marcel getting hot under the Koller
Marcel Koller's future as coach of Bochum is in the balance after Saturday's 3-2 loss to Mainz saw calls for him to be sacked increase.
The Bundesliga's second longest-serving coach behind Werder Bremen's Thomas Schaaf was the focus of the fans' frustrations as the Westphalians threw away the lead twice to slump to 16th in the table.
His future now lies in the hands of the club's decision makers, who also bore the brunt of the angered fans in the Ruhr Stadion, since the Swiss coach has no intention of throwing in the towel.
"I have known this situation since I have been here," he said. "It is not comfortable, but we have always managed in the last two years to keep the club in the Bundesliga.
"But I don't know what the people responsible will decide in the end.
"If they don't have faith in me anymore, then there is nothing more I can do as a coach.
"This was a bitter defeat for us."
And after just under four-and-a-half years in charge, it may well be his final defeat at Bochum as his future will be discussed at board level today.
A new man could well be in place by the time Bochum face Schalke in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday.
