Van Gaal demands more!

Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal claims his team are still learning the ropes under his guidance.

The Bavarians moved up to third in the Bundesliga with 2-1 triumph over Nurnberg, but Van Gaal insists the learning phase is not yet over and that he still expects improvements from his side.

"We have still got to get more mature," he said. "We made a huge error: When you lead 1-0 after so much hard work, you cannot all go running forward.

"But I am still very happy that we won and I think we deserved to do so."

It was the first time but probably not the last that Bayern came up against a brick wall of defenders looking to steal a 0-0 draw.

And Van Gaal wants his team to learn how to deal with such opponents better in future.

"We did not do it very well," he said. "It was tough to play against a very well organised and very defensive team and I said that before the game.

"But we did create some chances and scored a goal."

Nurnberg cancelled out Ivica Olic's 55th-minute opener through Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting with just over 15 minutes remaining before Daniel van Buyten grabbed the winner eight minutes from time.

Visiting coach Michael Oenning was disappointed his side were unable to hold on for a draw.

"We are very disappointed not to have survived the last eight minutes," he said.

"Overall, we have got to accept the defeat because we just don't have the same possibilities to be on the same level as them."
