Bochum vs W Bremen Preview

Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese is hoping break a club record for minutes without conceding.

Wiese has not let in a goal in 619 Bundesliga minutes and needs just 23 more to beat the record currently held by Oliver Reck from 1988.

"This would be a great record," he told the Kreiszeitung newspaper.

"It would be super to go into the record books."

Wiese's string of clean sheets has contributed to Bremen's rise up the table to fourth - and another such performance, assuming the strikers can do their job at the other end, could take Thomas Schaaf's men up to third.

That, more than any individual record, is what captain Torsten Frings wants.

"I would be equally happy if we win 2-1 or 3-1," he said.

"Anything else doesn't interest me."

While Wiese's place in the Bremen goal is not in any doubt, Bochum coach Frank Heinemann has confirmed he will be making a change to the last line of his defence tomorrow.

Philipp Heerwagen will replace Andreas Luthe in goal.

"It's a difficult situation - because Andi has made some good saves in the last few games and he has led the team well, shown his presence and appeared calm, which is all I can ask for from a goalkeeper," explained Heinemann.

"But Philipp showed these characteristics too before his injury and he remains a small step ahead of Andi."

Heinemann will also have to make changes elsewhere, with Joel Epalle suspended. Shinji Ono is back from a one-game ban and could be the like-for-like replacement.
