Borussia Dortmund will be looking to put one of their biggest disappointments in recent memory behind them.

They will want to extend their unbeaten record in the Bundesliga to four matches on Friday.

They welcome Hertha Berlin to the Westfalen Stadion just days after being knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by third division opponents Osnabruck.

That result was one of the lowest ebbs since Jurgen Klopp took over as coach 18 months ago and, according to him, the only way now is up.

"This game is all about revenge," he said. "Maybe I will leave it up to the very same players and tell them to get it right this time."

"Hopefully they will show that they understand what has happened."

But Dortmund's woes pale in comparison to the problems Hertha Berlin are currently facing.

Their dream of DFB-Pokal success was ended as early as the second stage of the competition by 1860 Munich, meaning they at least had a free week to prepare for what they hope will be their first win in 10 Bundesliga matches.

"We know that it may take a while to get away from the bottom, but we will do it," coach Friedhelm Funkel said after ending a sequence of nine straight defeats with a draw against Wolfsburg last Sunday.

Funkel has been in charge for just three weeks after taking the reins from Lucien Favre, who guided the club to fourth last season.

And only now does the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach feel he really knows the players.

"I have been able to get a decent enough overview, also through watching our games," he said. "I can now gauge what each player can do.

"But the getting-to-know-you period is not over yet - we are still in that phase and it could take weeks or months."

Berlin do not really have that much time, however, since safety is already four points above them and not even a win in Dortmund tomorrow night would be enough to take them off the foot of the table.

A win for Dortmund, on the other hand, would move them into touch with the leading clubs and erase memories of Tuesday's embarrassing defeat immediately.
