Frankfurt vs Bochum Preview

Heiko Herrlich makes his Bundesliga coaching debut tomorrow when he takes Bochum to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 37-year-old took charge of the Westphalian club this week after being released from his contract as coach of the Germany Under-19s and he has spent his first few days in charge teaching his player the basics.

"We need to start doing the simple things right," he said.

"You cannot reinvent football. We need to keep doing the things well that we have been doing well and improve the things we have not been doing so well.

"In the Ruhr area, you have got to work hard and that is what I have always believed in."

Herrlich put his team through their paces in a hastily-arranged two-day training camp this week, and he believes they were quick to grasp what he wants from them.

"They are all pulling in the right direction," he summarised before departing for Frankfurt.

Their hosts will be looking to put a bad week in which they lost twice to Bayern Munich behind them with a win in front of their own fans.

But their coach Michael Skibbe does not know where to begin in preparing to face Bochum this weekend.

"They have actually become more unpredictable with their system," he said.

"We will only find out on Sunday what Heiko Herrlich - who actually becomes the first opposition coach I myself trained - changes when we see the team sheet."

Frankfurt currently have a five-point cushion over Bochum and can join Herrlich's former club Borussia Dortmund in a share of ninth position with a win.

Bochum need at least a point to stand any chance of moving out of the bottom three this weekend.
