Hertha Berlin vs Cologne Preview

Hertha Berlin will be out to prove they have turned the corner following their 3-2 Europa League win over Heerenveen on Thursday.

It marked the club's first victory in 13 matches and they now go searching for their first Bundesliga triumph since the opening day of the season when they host Cologne at the Olympia Stadion tomorrow.

"The game was a new beginning for me and for the team," said striker Artur Wichniarek.

"I hope we now have luck on our side."

Coach Friedhelm Funkel spoke in a similar vein, saying the team must "latch on" to their midweek performance and, more importantly, the result.

"When you play like that you are rewarded in the end. I have always said that," he added.

"The team showed that they can win games and also deal with setbacks."

Funkel at least has no injury worries to contend with for tomorrow's battle in the capital, but Cologne arrive without Pierre Wome and Petit.

The former is injured while the latter is suspended with Kevin Pezzoni set to take his place.

Lukas Podolski, who this week accepted his share of the blame for his club's poor start to the season, should be moved back into his preferred position at the centre of the attack.

But coach Zvonimir Soldo admits he is not reading so much into whom he picks in the team tomorrow, as long as they show the right motivation.

"The team selection is not important, it's the players' attitude which will be decisive," he said.
