Van Gaal: I may be dismissed

Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal has admitted Sunday's game against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen could decide his future

Bayern will go into the game looking to cut the six-point gap between themselves and their opponents when Bayer visit the Allianz Arena.

But Van Gaal is aware another setback could cost him his job.

"Bayern are in eighth place," Van Gaal said in the Munich-based Tz newspaper. "The club need success and the coach does as well.

"If I don't produce I may be dismissed. We have to win."

In an interview with the Bild newspaper yesterday, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness and president Franz Beckenbauer both advised Van Gaal not to take on so much responsibility himself and to delegate more.

The Dutchman claimed though his relationship with the board was good.

"I speak with the board every week. The talks are always honest, direct, objective.

"I don't think there is something that I don't know."
