Frankfurt 1-2 Monchengladbach
An own goal by Oka Nikolov and a Roel Brouwers strike saw Borussia Monchengladbach get their second away win of the season.
Although Pirmin Schwegler scored a late penalty for Eintracht Frankfurt they could not force an equaliser as Monchengladbach moved to within a point of their hosts.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game, Juan Arango sending in a right-footed shot which was inches wide.
Arango then tested Eintracht's Logan Bailly with a long-range free-kick which the goalkeeper pushed away for a corner.
Arango was involved in all the visitors' attacking moves and Karim Matmour was the next beneficiary, taking the Venezuelan's pass to send a left-footed shot wide.
Eintracht hit back but Schwegler failed to connect with Patrick Ochs' cross when he would have had a free header.
Umit Korkmaz had two attempts on goal and the hosts almost took the lead two minutes from the break when Alexander Meier's shot was cleared off the line by Jean-Sebastian Jaures.
Nine minutes into the second half and Gladbach were ahead when Marco Russ' attempted clearance hit keeper Nikolov on the head and bounced into the net.
The visitors doubled their lead after 65 minutes when Brouwers headed home Reus' cross.
Meier hit the post before Benjamin Kohler's header from the rebound was ruled out for offside as Eintracht hit back and Kohler's header was cleared by Brouwers.
The hosts were awarded a penalty four minutes from time following Rob Friend's handball.
But although Schwegler was successful Eintracht could not force a leveller.
