Hamburg 0-1 Bochum
Dennis Grote's second-half goal gave Bochum a surprise victory at Hamburg to end the visitors' four-game losing streak.
Grote scored his first goal of the season in 77th minute as Hamburg's recent woes continued.
Hamburg have now gone five games without victory and have dropped four points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Bochum's win was their first under coach Heiko Herrlich and sees them move onto 11 points, although they are still inside the relegation zone.
Hamburg had the first chance after six minutes when Bochum goalkeeper Philipp Heerwagen misjudged the flight of Marcell Jansen's cross but Eljero Elia fired wide of the empty net.
Hamburg put the ball in the net after 32 minutes through Joris Mathijsen's header but Elia was ruled to have impeded Heerwagen.
Bochum had a good chance just after the hour mark but Roman Prokoph's shot just went wide of the right-hand post.
Elia then headed over from five yards while Prokoph helped Bochum keep the scoreline blank as he cleared Marcus Berg's header off the line in the 74th minute.
Bochum grabbed the winner three minutes later when Mathijsen's slip allowed Stanislav Sestak to break free, and his cross into the box found Grote who slotted home.
Heerwagen made sure of the win when his superb save kept out Robert Tesche's free-kick late on.
