Heynckes keen for Kroos stay
Bayer Leverkusen boss Jupp Heynckes is keen to keep on-loan Toni Kroos at the club beyond the end of the season.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who is on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, helping Bayer to top the Bundesliga.
He particularly impressed in the 4-0 win over Stuttgart on Sunday and Heynckes believes Kroos should stay at the BayArena for a second year.
"In my opinion, a further year here would do him good," he said in Kicker magazine. "Then he can still go back to Bayern.
"Here he can best continue his development."
Bayer striker Stefan Kiessling, who scored a hat-trick against Stuttgart, is also desperate for his teenage team-mate to stay.
"He has to stay," the Germany international said. "Everyone can see how happy he feels here. He absolutely doesn't want to leave."
Kroos himself insists he is not thinking about where his future might lie.
He said: "Here (at Bayer) football gives me pure delight.
"What is still months away does not interest me. Bayer are clearly in the foreground. We want to do something here."
