Veh blasts official after draw

Wolfsburg coach Armin Veh blamed the referee for preventing his side from picking up three points against Freiburg.

The Wolves were held at home to a 2-2 draw against the basement side, but Veh was bemused by several refereeing decisions which he claimed favoured their guests, including a second-half penalty which saw Freiburg take the lead.

"Freiburg had one chance, and scored twice," Veh said.

"It is not the first time this season that things have been given against us which I cannot understand.

"The first goal was offside, in my opinion, and there was no contact made for the penalty."

However, Veh said his side had to shoulder some of the blame for not returning to winning ways at the VW-Arena ahead of Tuesday's Champions League game against Manchester United.

"We played really well, but can only blame ourselves to blame for the numerous chances that we missed," Veh added.

"You cannot really dominate a team more than we did, so of course I am not happy with the result."

The draw saw the Wolves slip to eighth in the Bundesliga, behind Borussia Dortmund, although they remain ahead of Mainz on goal difference.

Now their attention turns to the clash with United, which they must win to guarantee their place in the last 16 of the competition.

A draw or defeat would only be good enough if CSKA Moscow matched their result in their game at Besiktas.
