Kuranyi in dark over future
Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi refused to speculate about where he may be playing next season.
The 27-year-old scored one and set up the other as the Royal Blues ended Werder Bremen's 23-game unbeaten streak and moved up to second in the Bundesliga standings.
However, Kuranyi's future remains up in the air. His contract with Schalke runs out in the summer and the financially-stricken club have yet to make him a new offer.
Since he is one of the biggest earners, the likelihood is he will leave - perhaps even this winter when Schalke can still ask for a transfer fee - but Kuranyi has made it clear that he is still happy in Gelsenkirchen.
"I don't know where I will be playing next season, but I hope it is with Schalke," said the former Stuttgart forward.
A return to the national team could also be back on the agenda, although Kuranyi is not so certain about that.
He was dropped indefinitely by Joachim Low after walking out at half-time of a World Cup qualifier against Russia last year and the Germany coach insists Kuranyi will never be allowed back while he is at the helm.
A return for the World Cup, then, seems unlikely, even if Kuranyi continues to score with far more regularity than the current Germany strikers - Miroslav Klose, Cacau and Lukas Podolski.
"I don't expect anything and so I am not thinking about it," he said.
Instead, he is concentrating on winning a first Bundesliga title with Schalke, although both he and the club's coach Felix Magath know there is still a long way to go.
"We worked very hard in pre-season and that is paying dividends now, but we cannot rest on our laurels - we have got to keep working because we have not achieved anything yet," said Kuranyi.
Magath, who won the league with Wolfsburg last season and did the same twice with Bayern Munich, added: "The fans are allowed to dream about the title, but we are not allowed to talk about it."
