Van Gaal unsure about Ribery
Louis van Gaal has expressed that if Franck Ribery has a desire to leave Bayern Munich, then they should just offload him.
The French winger has been rumoured to be on the move to Real Madrid and Chelsea for the last year and his deal with the Bavarians end in 2011. Van Gaal revealed that Ribery is keeping his cards close to his chest.
"If he wants to go we should sell him now, because it brings in money and is good for Bayern," Van Gaal told German TV station Sat.1.
"If I look at him doing everything to be fit for the game against Fiorentina, then I think he will stay.
"If I then read the newspapers I think he won't stay. It is difficult."
Bayern qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League on the merit of the away goals rule after a 4-4 aggregate draw against Fiorentina.
Van Gaal said that staying in Europe's elite competition will convince the club's stars that they can win the relevant silverware with Bayern.
"It was very important for us to go through," he said.
"We knew that it was not going to be an easy game and the weather didn't help us either, particularly in the first half when it was very tough.
"We showed a great team performance with a lot of solidarity. As a team, together we can achieve a lot."
