Bochum vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is certain that Jakub Blaszczykowski will fire his side to victory over Bochum on Saturday.
The Poland international has found the back of the net just once this season and has been criticised recently for not getting his name on the scoresheet more often like he did in his early days with the club.
But Klopp, after viewing some evidence of the former Wisla Krakow player's past on film, remains convinced that he can play a defining role in his team.
"I took a look at loads of his goals on YouTube," admitted Klopp at the pre-match press conference.
"There were some really fantastic goals in there. Blaszczykowski certainly knows where the goal is."
But even if Blaszczykowski and striker Lucas Barrios are not scoring frequently at the moment, Klopp does not mind, as long as somebody is weighing in with the goals.
"Fortunately the others are scoring and I have no problem with that," he said.
"There was a phase when only Lucas was scoring and nobody else, but I prefer things as they are now."
Bochum coach Heiko Herrlich is preparing to meet the club where he spent much of his playing career, winning the Bundesliga title and the Champions League with the Westphalians.
"I still live in Dortmund and my family are happy there, but I am 100% Bochum and you can see that by the way I work so passionately for this club," he said.
"There is no room for sentimentality."
Another former Dortmund man, Diego Klimowicz, misses the chance to meet his old employers due to a hip injury. Furthermore, Mergim Mavraj is suspended and Rene Renno is ill.
Joel Epalle and Dennis Grote are also doubts, leaving Herrlich with a lot of work to do arranging his team for tomorrow's clash at the Ruhr Stadion.
Dortmund make the short 15-mile trip without Brazilian defender Dede due to a muscular injury he picked up at the end of training yesterday. Marcel Schmelzer should take his place.
