Freiburg vs Mainz Preview

Robin Dutt expects Freiburg to be pushed to the limit by a Mainz side who still have plenty to play for this season.

Mainz have all but guaranteed themselves a second successive season in the Bundesliga, while Freiburg's hopes of staying up are still in the balance.

But Dutt is not expecting an easier ride from the visitors, who can still qualify for Europe.

"We cannot be naive in this game," he said. "Mainz have not only secured their safety, but they still have a chance of playing in Europe next season.

"Therefore, we are going to have to ensure we keep a clean sheet to start with."

Dutt has problems at the back with Omer Toprak in danger of joining Pavel Krmas and Oliver Barth on the sidelines with a thigh strain.

"We hope to have at least one of the three available, but certainly it is not going to be a situation that we would like in defence tomorrow," added Dutt.

Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel has vowed not to let up in the final eight matches of the season, even if they have already achieved their objective for the season.

"Of course we are no longer obliged to win every point, but there is no reason to doubt our attitude," he said.

"It is not in our character to let up."

Mainz striker Aristide Bance is banned for the next three matches, meaning Adam Szalai is likely to get a chance from the start.
