Hannover 6-1 Borussia M'gladbach
Hannover stormed out of the relegation places with a thumping home win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Mirko Slomka saw his side produce their biggest win of the season when it counted the most to move two points clear of the drop zone with a game to go.
Four first-half goals from Karim Haggui, Sergio Pinto, Didier Konan and Mike Hanke effectively sealed the victory before further strikes from Sotian Chahed and Arnold Bruggink after the break.
Monchengladbach substitute Patrick Hermann scored the merest of consolation goals.
Victory for Hannover means they will go into their final-day clash with second-from-bottom Bochum with their fate in the own hands.
Hannover had conceded 10 goals in their previous two defeats to Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen and after losing to Monchengladbach 5-3 in December the home fans could have been forgiven for feeling uneasy about their chances.
Those concerns were emphatically dispelled inside the opening half.
Hanno Balitsch had already grazed the post before Haggui fired his side ahead in the 17th minute with a firm header into the top-right corner.
Pinto doubled the advantage with a superb long-range strike after 23 minutes and soon after the hosts were cruising when Konan climbed to meet a Christian Schultz cross and head home.
A dream first half for the hosts was completed when Hanke tapped into an open net after goalkeeper Logan Bailly had blocked Konan's effort into his path.
The goals kept coming after the break with Manuel Schmiedebach cutting a pass back for Chahed to thrash a low shot in from the edge of the area with 54 minutes gone.
Gladbach at least got on the scoresheet after 69 minutes when Michael Bradley fed Hermann to score from 15 yards, but five minutes later Hannover netted their sixth thanks to a powerful run and finish from Bruggink.
