Borussia M'gladbach 1-1 Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen's hopes of claiming a place in next season's Champions League were ended with a draw at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Jupp Heynckes' side need to win at Borussia-Park to stand any chance of moving above Werder Bremen in the race for third, but one point was not enough as Leverkusen fell short and will have to be content with Europa League football next term.
Patrick Helmes opened the scoring for the visitors after 34 minutes but Roel Brouwers popped up with a second-half leveller for Monchengladbach, who end the season in 12th place.
Helmes might have opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute but could only fire straight at Logan Bailly after the home goalkeeper parried Burak Kaplan's initial effort.
The Leverkusen striker had no such trouble nine minutes before the break, however, as he followed up another parry from Bailly to smash home from the right side of the area.
Bailly was again in the thick of the action on 42 minutes, this time saving superbly to first deny Sami Hyypia's header and then Stefan Reinartz's volleyed follow-up.
Bonfim Dante was lucky to stay on the pitch for the hosts after 48 minutes when he fouled Stefan Kiessling as the last man, but the referee kept his red card in his pocket, preferring instead to issue a caution.
The hosts benefited from that let-off to draw level after 55 minutes as Brouwers latched onto Juan Arango's weak shot from distance to fire home emphatically.
And the hosts might have won it inside the final 10 minutes had Marco Reus kept his head when six yards from goal, but the striker blazed wastefully over.
