Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim Preview

New Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel wants to get the club "back on track" after replacing Holger Stanislawski on Friday.

The former Stuttgart and Hertha Berlin coach has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract in Hoffenheim and he has not given up on their chances of qualifying for Europe next season.

They are currently seven points adrift of the top six with 14 games of the season remaining.

"The important thing is that we turn things around as soon as possible," he said.

"The team is capable of it, just as long as they all pull in the same direction, and then we can be very successful.

"I have a very positive feeling, otherwise I would have just stayed at home. I was delighted when I became their first choice and I want to pass on this conviction to the team.

"This is a very special club. The players have the quality; they are excellent footballers, but we need to get good results on the field again."

No sooner had Babbel arrived in Hoffenheim than he is taking the team away to Bremen.

He has therefore warned not to expect miracles immediately.

"Of course Hoffenheim have developed a reputation for playing dynamic football with the focus on attacking, but we first have to regain that," he said at a press conference on Friday.

"It will not happen overnight, but the important thing is we do get some success to celebrate."

Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf says he "regrets" that he will not be exchanging pleasantries with Stanislawski on Saturday.

"He is a great guy and a motivated coach," he said.

"He has great ideas for how he wants football to be played and he has proven that in the past, it is just a shame that things did not work out for him with Hoffenheim."

Facing Hoffenheim on Saturday is therefore a different prospect which Schaaf is determined to fathom out.

"I cannot judge whether it (the change in coach) will give them more peace and quiet," he said at the pre-match press conference.

"It will change something."

There will also be a change in the Bremen side since Claudio Pizarrro is suspended on Saturday.

Marko Arnautovic should take his place, although Niclas Fullkrug is also an option after signing a professional contract on Thursday.
