Augsburg vs Nuremberg Preview
Augsburg coach Jos Luhukay has his sights set only on victory in Sunday's Bavarian derby with fellow strugglers Nuremberg, insisting that a third successive draw is not enough.
Augsburg go into the game on the back of 2-2 draws against both Kaiserslautern and Hoffenheim in their last two matches and, despite that helping them to climb off the foot of the Bundesliga, they are still stuck in the relegation zone and three points adrift of safety.
They are also four points behind 14th-placed Nuremberg, but Luhukay knows things could look a lot healthier for his side with a victory on Sunday.
"We need the three points and we will be going all out to win," said Luhukay.
"Nuremberg are within touching distance and we can close in on them with a win.
"We cannot always be happy with a draw, we must also win games, although by saying we must win should not put us under too much pressure."
Luhukay would even trade in a good performance for the three points, just as long as his team leave the field triumphant.
"You could tell in our last two games that the team wanted more," he said at the pre-match press conference.
"We now want to reward ourselves, preferably with excellent football. But at the end of the day, what matters are the three points, no matter how you win them."
Nuremberg have dominated recent meetings between the two sides having beaten their neighbours 3-0 on aggregate in the promotion/relegation play-off two seasons ago.
Nuremberg were also victorious at the Frankenstadion earlier this term and their coach Dieter Hecking would do anything for a repeat of that 1-0 win.
"We know how important this game is in terms of the league table, not only for Augsburg but also for us," he said.
"If we were to win, then everything would look all rosy for us again.
"That has got to be our goal and that is how we will be going into the game."
Timothy Chandler is an option for the Nuremberg starting XI after recovering from injury, but Javier Pinola is still unavailable.
Luhukay is set to name the same side which drew with Hoffenheim last weekend.
