Effenberg issues Klinsmann warning
Stefan Effenberg has warned Jurgen Klinsmann life as coach of Bayern Munich will be more stressful than Germany.
The former Bayern captain Effenberg is concerned that the 43-year-old will struggle to cope with the expectation after his predecessor Ottmar Hitzfeld led the Bavarian giants to three trophies last season.
Effenberg, skipper of the Bayern side which won the 2001 Champions League, told German newspaper Bild: "He (Klinsmann) has earned his chance, but there is going to be a very thin line (between success and failure)."
He added: "He is under intense observation and is compelled to be successful.
"If success does not arrive, then he will feel an ice cold wind and he would probably lose his job quicker if things go badly than any other coach."
Klinsmann was appointed last January when Bayern were clinging on to top spot in the Bundesliga.
When the season recommenced in February, their form improved. They clinched the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles to add to the League Cup they claimed at the start of the season and also reached the last four of the UEFA Cup.
Klinsmann has a hard act to follow, but, despite his concerns, Effenberg is confident Bayern have got the right man.
"I think it is worth a try," he added.
"But it is also quite a risk. He has proven what he is capable of with the national team. I do have faith in him making it."
