Spalletti: Winning is best medicine
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has praised his team's fighting spirit after watching them win 3-1 win at Bordeaux.
The outcome on Wednesday night in France saw the Eternal City giants bounce back from their surprise loss to minnows CFR Cluj in their first game of the competition.
"Winning is the best medicine," he said. "Only through victories you find enthusiasm. We have won and we are happy."
He added: "We endured a difficult start but after the interval I really liked the way my team played.
"My players showed courage and they gained confidence as the game went on."
Spalletti singled out attacking duo Mirko Vucinic and Julio Baptista, who proved pivotal on the night, for special praise.
Vucinic cancelled out Yoann Gourcuff's opener before summer signing Julio Baptista left his mark with a brace.
"Vucinic's goal gave the team enthusiasm," added Spalletti. "From then on, we played with more confidence and Baptista's goals were a result of that.
"I am happy with how Baptista is playing and I think these goals will help him."
