Atletico Madrid defender, John Heitinga is adamant that the right tactic against Liverpool is to go on the attack.

Atletico have enjoyed a fine start to their first Champions League campaign in over a decade with victories over PSV Eindhoven (3-0) and Marseille (2-1) to climb to the top of their pool.

However, Liverpool have almost matched the Spanish outfit result for result, beating Marseille 2-1 and PSV 3-1, setting up what could prove to be a mouth-watering encounter in Madrid on October 22.

Atletico could opt for a more conservative approach knowing they are within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages, but Heitinga is adamant they will be going for the victory in the first of the double-header against the 2005 European champions.

"We start here first at the Vicente Calderon and of course we've got to play for the win because then we go away, but it's going to be difficult because Liverpool are a tough tough team," said the Dutch international.
