Arsenal and Celtic on collision course
Arsenal and Celtic could be set to meet for a place in the lucrative Champions League group phase.
The Hoops, who overcame a 1-0 first-leg deficit to claim a 2-1 aggregate win over Dinamo Moscow, are one of five unseeded teams the Gunners could face on their 'non-champions path' to the group stage of the competition.
Aside from a potential 'Battle of Britain' encounter, there are some other dangerous opponents Arsene Wenger's men could come up against.
Atletico Madrid are a superb attacking unit with Argentina's Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan providing a regular supply of goals for the Rojiblancos, although they are less secure at the back.
Like Arsenal, Atletico finished fourth in their domestic league, as did Fiorentina, another potential play-off rival.
Fiorentina - 'the Viola' - are similarly blessed going forward, with former Chelsea forward Adrian Mutu among their ranks along with Italy striker Alberto Gilardino and highly-rated Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic.
Arsenal could also face Anderlecht, who were beaten in a Belgian title play-off by Standard Liege last season. The 29-times Belgian champions beat Turkish side Sivasspor 5-0 in Brussels en route to a 6-3 aggregate victory in the third qualifying round.
The fifth possibility for Wenger and co is a trip to Romania to face FC Timisoara, who finished second in their domestic league last season behind Unirea Urziceni.
They reached the play-off stage by knocking out UEFA Cup holders Shakhtar Donetsk on away goals.
"We are conscious that there are tricky teams out there," Wenger said.
"But on the other side, nobody would like to play against Arsenal."
However, the Gunners boss is more concerned with fixture congestion before the season has even started.
He added: "What is tricky is we have an international friendly on the 12th, France plays an official game, Croatia plays an official game.
"Then we play on the 15th, the 19th, the 22nd, at Manchester United, then again on the 25th, the second leg of the Champions League.
"It is a very heavy schedule, and that is why I have to find the right balance in every game and to have no injuries is important.
"Qualification is not crucially financially for the club, it is crucial on the sporting side because we want to play for the best, and with the best is in the Champions League."
Other than Arsenal, Lyon will probably be the side Celtic fear most in the play-off round.
They may have sold star striker Karim Benzema to Real Madrid and finished only third in Ligue 1 behind Bordeaux and Marseille after seven consecutive league titles, but they have brought in a proven Champions League goalscorer in the shape of Lisandro Lopez, an Argentinian signed from Porto.
Sporting Lisbon, who finished runners-up to Porto in the Portuguese league last season, are another possible opponent for Celtic having come through a difficult tie against FC Twente on away goals.
Panathinaikos - whose big summer signing was former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse from Marseille - and German side Stuttgart, are also potential opponents for Tony Mowbray's men.
The winners of the five 'non-champions path' ties will reach the group phase, as will the winners of the five ties in the 'champions path', so-called because they are all domestic league winners.
There are 10 teams in this section of the draw, with the five seeds being Olympiakos of Greece, FC Copenhagen of Denmark, Bulgaria's Levski Sofia, Israeli side Maccabi Haifa and FC Zurich of Switzerland.
Those five will face one of the five unseeded sides, who are Red Bull Salzburg of Austria, APOEL Nicosia from Cyprus, FK Ventspils of Latvia, Debreceni VSC from Hungary and Moldova's FC Sheriff.
The Europa League play-off draw will also take place tomorrow at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
