Celtic and Arsenal date in doubt

The date of Celtic's match against Arsenal is in doubt due to a U2 concert taking place at Hampden Park on the same evening.

Strathclyde Police are believed to have concerns over the manpower it would require to stage two major public events in Glasgow at the same time, especially as one involves two British football clubs.

Celtic are hopeful the game against Arsenal will go ahead as planned on Tuesday, August 18, but are advising supporters not to make specific plans to travel to Parkhead that evening until the situation is resolved.

That will not prevent the club commencing the sale of tickets for the game to season ticket holders at 10am on Saturday morning.

Celtic drew Arsenal for the Champions League play-off round, with the winners over two legs advancing to the lucrative group stage.
