Adriano Galliani has backed Leonardo despite AC Milan’s 1-0 loss to FC Zurich, and has reminded fans of the club’s “many wonderful years”.

Milan were upset 1-0 by the Swiss side in Wednesday's Champions League clash in Italy, a result that has not gone down well with the San Siro faithful after a dismal start to their domestic campaign.

"We had many wonderful years," snapped Galliani.

The Rossoneri vice-president then gave his head coach the dreaded vote of confidence, and said that Milan deserved to beat Zurich.

"I have little to say other than to confirm our faith in Leonardo," Galliani added.

"I think even a draw would've been a small result considering the performance, so a defeat was very harsh.

"We have to keep working and turn this situation around."
