Bittersweet debut for De Gea
David De Gea was ecstatic about getting his debut for Atletico Madrid, but had to endure a 2-0 loss to Porto in the Champions League.
"I am very pleased with the debut, I did well kept calm and tried to transmit my confidence to the defence. I am very happy with my debut but not the outcome," De Gea said, according to AS.
Two goals in the waning moments of the game from Rolando and Falcao sent Los Colchoneros home empty-handed as Abel Resino's men sank to the bottom of Group D. The Atleti must somehow conjure a win to retain any hope of progressing into the next round.
"The team is affected but the group is very united and strong enough to pull this off," De Gea added before revealing Abel Resino's words of encouragement to the team.
"He encouraged us and told us that we must go with our heads held high and try to move forward."
