Arjen Robben could be set to be unleashed in Bayern Munich's Champions League tie against Bordeaux on Wednesday.

The new signing from Real Madrid has been injured since Bayern's Champions League game against Juventus on October 1 but Louis van Gaal is encouraged by Robben's rate of recovery.

Robben has reportedly recovered earlier than scheduled after surgery to his knee, giving Van Gaal hope that the Dutchman can feature in the top of the table clash.

Both Bayern and Bordeaux share top spot in Group A with four points each.

Bayern beat Freiburg 2-1 in the Bundesliga on the weekend and are fifth in the table, while the German giants are joint leaders at the top of Group A in the Champions League alongside Bordeaux who also have four points.
