Real Madrid playmaker, Xabi Alonso, knows his team will need to up their game to get a win against AC Milan.

Madrid were in firm control of the first encounter two weeks back but were dealt a severe blow when AC Milan stunned them with two late goals to win the game 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Xabi knows the Los Merengues will need to up their game to prevent another loss at the hands of Leonardo's improving Milan side.

Speaking to the Marca, the Spaniard said:"We must raise our game in order to win,

"We are always trying to play in a manner that we like, trying to control the game and take the initiative. Tuesday's match is crucial, so we must try to combine good results with attractive football that the fans like."

He also reiterated that if his team get their tactics right, a win at the San Siro is within their reach.

He said: "It was a game of two halves. In the second, Milan's goal hurt us and we lost a bit of the control of the game. We have learned our lesson.

"If we aren't playing as a collective, with the same idea, then Milan are a great team with dangerous players who don't need many chances to score three goals.

"We have to be careful defensively and our chances will come - we have the quality in attack to score,"
