Quique Flores revealed that Atletico Madrid played well enough against APOEL, not having to rely on other teams to secure a spot in the Europa League.

Simao Sabrosa equalised for Los Colchoneros in their 1-1 draw against the Cyprus outfit, cancelling out Nenad Mirosavljevic's early goal. Flores said that the coming home with a draw was not an easy task.

"The goal was to depend on ourselves to continue in European competition. There is one game left now and we do not have to be depending on another team to get into the Europa League," he told a press conference afterwards.

"The truth is that I had the feeling that the game could have gone worse. Today, in all competitions, to pick up a point you have to suffer a lot."
