Veh frustrated by Wolfsburg lapse
Wolfsburg coach Armin Veh was left frustrated after his side blew the chance to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Wolves were beaten 2-1 by CSKA Moscow and now need to at least match the Russians in the last group fixture two weeks from now, but while CSKA travel to Besiktas, Wolfsburg come up against last year's beaten finalists Manchester United.
And Veh was left to rue a missed chance in the Russian capital last night.
"We have missed a glorious opportunity to wrap things up," he said. "We had everything under control."
The Wolves led thanks to a 19th-minute goal from Edin Dzeko, but two goals for CSKA in the second half earned them the win which takes them level on points with the Bundesliga champions, but behind them on the head-to-head record.
That means Wolfsburg's destiny is in their own hands and a win against United by 1-0 or by two goals would even see them win the group, qualifying together with the Red Devils.
"We now have a final against Manchester and we still have a chance of reaching the knockout stage," added Veh.
