Poyet backs Blues for Champs League win

Gus Poyet has backed former team Chelsea to finally win the Champions League and put years of pain to rest.

Poyet, now managing League One outfit Brighton, hopes Carlo Ancelotti's team can become European champions after watching their semi-final collapse against Barcelona last season.

Andres Iniesta's last-gasp equaliser for La Blaugrana, which dumped the Blues out of Europe, was one of Poyet's low points of 2009.

He said: "I want them to win the Champions League so badly.

"It's something that is becoming an obsession for everyone related to Chelsea.

"I was there watching the Barcelona game and it was difficult to take.

"I was pleased that I wasn't on the pitch.

"But this is why I think 2010 will be their year.

"The pain of that Barcelona will motivate them."
