Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain says that home support will be vital if his team is to progress in the Champions League.

Higuain is expected to play a vital role in Real's crunch clash with Lyon to decide who will progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Los Blancos trail the French champions 1-0 from the first leg and Higuain thinks that the crowd will be vital in determining the Spanish giants' progress.

"It is a vital match for us and I hope we can have a similar night to the match against Sevilla. We are going to need our public.

"It is vital that they support us and push us. We need to do everything in our power to nullify the first leg result. In our stadium, we can't let them relax for a moment," he said in comments reported by Marca.

The ace-striker believes that the match against Lyon comes at an opportune time, when Real are still riding the high of their incredible come-from-behind 3-2 win over Sevilla in La Liga over the weekend.

"We have a had a morale boost, but we know we have to play a nearly perfect match to progress to the quarter-finals,"concluded the Argentine.
