Pjanic feeds off Real chatter

Miralem Pjanic thoroughly enjoyed the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring for Lyon to advance in the Champions League.

Olympique Lyonnais have advanced to the quarter-final stage of the competition after dispatching Real Madrid, and the teenager admitted that Los Merengues' audacious quotes in the press spurred Les Gones to play well.

Los Blancos defender Sergio Ramos had boldly predicted a 3-0 triumph for the La Liga giants, despite returning from France with a 1-0 deficit. Real drew with Lyon 1-1 at the end of the second leg, though the visitors had to hold off their hosts many times in the first half as Manuel Pellegrini's side pressured the Lyon penalty area mercilessly. OL equalised after the break, with Pjanic's goal erasing Cristiano Ronaldo's sixth minute effort.

"This qualification is good, especially because players of Real Madrid had spoken too much in the press before the game, which really upset us," the 19-year-old smiled to TF1. "It was hard during the first half but we remained sturdy.

"We're waiting for the next round now. This Champions League is not over for us."

Lyon might possibly return to the Bernabeu this term, as the Champions League final is being held there. However, the French club is viewed as a dark horse at best, at this moment in time.
