Leonardo at a loss to explain defeat
AC Milan coach Leonardo has said it is too early to analyse what went wrong in Milan's catastrophic loss to Manchester United.
The Rossoneri were given a hiding at Old Trafford - losing the second leg 4-0 and 7-2 on aggregate - to make a disastrous exit from the Champions League.
Speaking to Sky after the defeat, Leonardo said: "To analyse the match now would be out of place. There are many reasons as to why we lost like this, in particular a Manchester United side in excellent form."
The Brazilian was forced to fall back on injuries as being a big reason for his side's failure.
"We needed everyone's help to overcome the deficit, but we did not access to all our best players. We imagined the match would be played out in another manner, but the injuries helped shape the result.
"When you have these types of problems, it is impossible to beat a team like Manchester. The team did some extraordinary things to obtain this result.
"Milan has played some great games to get to this stage, but it only takes one negative result to bring everything to a halt," he concluded.
