"We did not play like a team"
Real Madrid duo of Esteban Granero and Alvaro Arbeloa has admitted that the team lacked cohesion in the defeat to Lyon.
Speaking to Spanish publication AS, Granero said: "It's true in the second half we did not play like a team.
"It is time to take stock of the negative things and we must learn from our mistakes because we cannot fail in the league."
"We started well but in the second half we slowed down and they were comfortable at 1-0 and scored."
Teammate Arbeloa said that rather than blaming the coach, the defeat was the team's collective responsibility.
"We are all hurt, the homegrown players and the others. We had it in our grasp so now we are all distressed,"he said.
"The problem is that we didn't win it in the first half and in the second they surprised us with the tactical shift. They have had more control, more possession and were dominant in midfield.
"In the second half we stopped being a team. We have failed to endure or adapt to the new script but I appreciate the coach's decisions, the responsibility lies with the players," concluded the midfielder.
