Zanetti: Beating Chelsea not easy

Inter Milan captain and veteran defender Javier Zanetti could not hide his delight after beating Chelsea.

Inter progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge which saw them take the tie on a 3-1 aggregate.

Zanetti, along with some of his teammates, celebrated in front of the travelling Nerazzurri supporters after the win.

Later, speaking to Inter.it, Zanetti said: "I believe that Inter's win this evening was an important sign for all."

"We played a great match with lots of determination, going up against a team such as Chelsea.

"We were here in London to win. Beating a big team twice like Chelsea is not easy, but we applied ourselves and did it," gushed Zanetti.

He also acknowledged the role coach Jose Mourinho had played in the triumph. Mourinho, who coached the Blues for three and a half years before moving to the San Siro, got his tactics just right against the team he knows so well.

"He [Mourinho] is the one who helps us win. It is his support that gets us through. He had the experience, and the knowledge of what to do. I hope that this can take us all the way to the final of the competition," said Zanetti.
