Bayern running scared of Rooney

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer confesses his team are scared of facing Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Bayern and United go head to head in the Champions League quarter-finals next Tuesday. Rooney has been in sizzling form both domestically and in Europe - having scored 33 goals in all competitions this season.

Beckenbauer admits that Bayern will have a tough time stopping the striker.

In comments quoted by The Sun, 'The Kaiser' said:Rooney is playing better than ever and we at Bayern will fear him when we play United.

"We have to stop him - but no one has been able to do that very often this season."

Various opposition coaches have recently expressed their trepidationat facing the unstoppable centre-forward. Most recently, Bolton manager Owen Coyle said that he would be glad if Rooney was rested this weekend.

Bolton and United go head to head in a Premier League clash on Saturday at the Reebok Stadium.
