Villa focused on Spain challenge

Spain striker David Villa is putting all questions and thoughts about his club future on hold until after next month's European Championship.

Villa has regularly been linked with a move away from Valencia over the last few years and there is likely to be no shortage of interested parties should the 26-year-old call time on his stint at the Mestalla.

However, the prolific hitman is adamant that anything regarding his future will have to wait until after Euro 2008 , saying: "It has been a long time since I spoke with my representative and I don't want to waste even a second answering questions about my future."

He added: "I want to have a great European Championship, and then I will think about it. At the moment I am neither thinking about it nor have anything to say about my future."

The immediate future for Villa is to try and force his way into Spain coach Luis Aragones' starting XI for the European Championship.

Villa was Spain's top scorer in qualifying with seven goals, but it could be that Aragones will play a 4-1-4-1 formation with in-form Liverpool striker Fernando Torres as the only forward.

Villa is still hoping to get the nod from his coach, but insists that whatever is decided he will continue to give 100%.

"From the first day I've come here to work for the good of the national team. My mission is to try and help the team either on or off the pitch. He (Aragones) is the one who decides and who picks the team," he added.

"I will try to do as well as possible, accept the coach's decision and work with humility and if I am not included, as we don't know yet how it will be, to try and change it.

"I work to play the maximum amount of time possible and then it is up to the coach to decide."
