It's crunch-time for several big clubs in the Europa League as the action in the second leg of the play-off heats up.

Past UEFA competition winners CSKA Moskva, Borussia Dortmund and FC Porto already have one foot in the group stages after convincing victories in the first leg, while Villarreal CF and Bayer Leverkusen should also progress at the expense of Dnepr Mogilev and Tavriya Simferopol respectively.

Liverpool FC, who have won the UEFA Cup three times in their history, face a possible banana skin in the form of Trabzonspor AS, as the English giants have only a one goal lead to defend following Joe Cole's penalty miss in the first leg for the fixture, while moneybags Manchester City FC will be confident to finish the job against FC Timisoara to breeze into the second round.

Fellow Premier League side Aston Villa FC will hope to make it further in the competition this time out, but still have work to do after a 1-1 away draw at SK Rapid Wien in the first leg.

It may not be as easy for PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Galatasaray AS though. Sporting has the biggest headache following a 2-0 home defeat to Brondby, while PSV need to shake things up after stumbling to a 1-0 defeat to FC Sibir Novosibirsk.

The 37 play-off winners will join up with current Europa champions Atletico Madrid together with the ten clubs knocked out of the UEFA Champions League play-offs earlier this week to enter into the group-stage draw, scheduled in Monaco on Friday.
