CSKA vs Man Utd Player Ratings

Here are the best and worst performers in the Champions League Group B game between CSKA Moscow and Man United.

By Eugene YS Han

CSKA MOSCOW

Akinfeev: 5
Could have done better with the goal and wasn't the steady hands many had expected. Made a great save on the hour mark from Nani.

Semberas: 5
The right-back was used in midfield to help shore up the midfield but was outplayed by Scholes, Anderson and Berbatov.

Ignashevich: 5
The 30-year-old struggled to keep Berbatov quiet.

Alexei Berezutsky: 5
Was nowhere when Valencia scored and was being skinned by the Ecuadorian winger time and time again.

Vasili Berezutsky: 5
Did not look too comfortable trying to repel United's unrelentless attacks from the flanks.

Odiah: 5
Had a torrid time trying to contain Nani.

Rahimic: 5
Almost anonymous - only discovered he was playing when he was replaced by Daniel Carvalho.

Shchennikov: 5
Spent more time defending rather than supporting the attack.

Krasic: 7
Showed he is at his most dangerous when taking on defence at speed, the Serbian attacking midfielder tormented United defence in the first half with his trickery and industry. But he faded badly in the second half to blunt CSKA's attacks.

Dzagoev: 6
Worked hard to close down United's defenders and caused a few moments of uncertainty in their box.

Necid: 6
The 1.9m striker did his best to unsettle United defence and can't be faulted for lack of effort. Lacked reinforcements from the others and was frequently fighting a lone battle up-front.

Subs:
Daniel Carvalho: 6
Tried to lift CSKA's attacks but didn't have enough time.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Van der Sar: 6
Was not seriously tested by a defensive CSKA side but cleared his lines when it mattered.

Neville: 7
Captain on the night and was effective in joining in the attack on the right. Nearly scored a rare goal with a left-foot curler in the first-half.

Ferdinand: 6
Mostly untroubled by a very defensive CSKA side.

Vidic: 6
Not convincing when in possession and gave away the ball in dangerous areas.

Fabio Da Silva: 7
Impressed in the left-back role. Was rarely beaten and showed great awareness when attacking. Ran out of steam at the end with cramps.

O'Shea: 5

Looked uncomfortable in midfield and looked like a fish out of water.

Valencia: 8
Hit the bar in the 82nd minute with a thunderbolt but got his just rewards four minutes with his second goal in United colours.

Scholes: 8
Easily United's best player with his solid all-round play. Launched passes and tackled well.

Anderson: 6
Kept possession well for United.

Nani: 7
Helped create United's winner when he crossed the ball back into the penalty box.

Berbatov: 7
Looked disinterested but showed his class when his header picked out Valencia for the winner. Played alone up-front and did his part defensively.

Subs:
Owen: 5
Missed a gilt-edged chance with a wild swing.

Carrick: 6

Brown: 6
