Arsenal vs Tottenham Player Ratings
We rate the players in the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal
Manuel Almunia - 5
A save from a David Bentley free-kick was Almunia's only exertion of the day. A nice way for him to ease back into the Arsenal team.
Gael Clichy - 6
Made one scintillating run deep into the Spurs' half before delivering a poor final ball. Did not have much to do otherwise.
William Gallas - 6
Had some hairy moments early in the second half but the French defender's stellar season continued with another good performance.
Thomas Vermaleen - 7
The dead eyed Belgian made one absolutely crucial tackle to deny Tottenham and dealt with the Crouch's heading prowess quite impressively
Bacary Sagna - 8
It was his cross from which Robin Van Persie scored the Gunners' opener. Spurs were never quite the same after that. A second cross from him for the Gunners' third killed off the game completely.
Alexander Song - 6
Still not the finished product. Needs to improve his passing. Did produce a few mazy runs to cause the Tottenham back-line a few problmes.
Abou Diaby - 5
Was not involved in the game through most of the 90 minutes. Let down by his first touch on the few ocassions when he did get the ball
Cesc Fabregas - 8
The captain's goal was a thing of beauty - nutmegging three Tottenham players before finishing with aplomb. When he plays, Arsenal play.
Niklas Bendtner - 5
Did not look entirely comfortable in midfield. Hobbled off before the second half due to a groin injury.
Andrei Arshavin - 5
Not the Russian's best game, given the high standards he has set for himself. Had a bright opening half hour but seemed to tire as the game wore on.
Robin Van Persie - 9
The Dutchman has certainly put on his striking boots this season. Two goals in the derby certainly embellished his credentials as one of the better striker in the league.
Substitutes
Eduardo - 6
Missed an absolute sitter when he was miles clear with only Gomes to beat. But the Croat is certainly going to cause defences a fair few headaches in the coming months, provided he stays fit.
Emmanuel Eboue - 5
Came on for the tiring Arshavin in the dying stages of the game. Arsenal had already galloped away from Tottenham by then.
Aaron Ramsey - n.a
Tottenham
Gomes - 7
Made one spectacular save early in the game from a Fabregas half-volley. His defenders let him down on all three ocassions that he was beaten.
Sebastien Bassong - 5
Bassong will be disappointed that he did not put in a more domintaing performance against the likes of Van Persie.
Ledley King - 3
Had a horror outing. King was culpable was all three Arsenal goals. A rare aberration for a normally dependable midfielder
Benoit Assou-Ekotto - 5
Did not do anything much to write home about.
Vedran Corluka - 6
Put in a good shift at right back.
Wilson Palacios - 5
A few hopeful balls launched in Crouch's direction were his main contributions.
Tom Huddlestone - 4
Was bossed around in midfield by his opponents. Not a match he'll remember fondly.
Jermaine Jenas - 6
One of the few Spurs players to come out with some credit. Jenas was threatening constantly but was let down by his midfield and forward compatriots.
Robbie Keane - 4
A pale shadow of his incisive self. Keane's form over the past two games will worry Redknapp
David Bentley - 3
Would have been hoping to shine against his former club. Other than a threatening freekick, barely offered anything.
Peter Crouch - 4
Huffed and puffed against Vermaleen and Gallas but succeeded only in being short of breath.
Substitutes
Gareth Bale - 5
Looked rusty. A few ill judged passes suffed out whatever few chances Spurs had.
Roman Pavlyuchenko - 4
Had barely any impact on the game.
Alan Hutton - N.A
