Tottenham
Gomes - 6
Good performance from the steadily improving Gomes. Looked assured between the sticks and displayed good distribution.
Jonathan Woodgate
Michael Dawson - 5
Largely untroubled.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto - 5
Ditto
Vedran Corluka - 4
One of the few Spurs players who did not shine on the night. Botched passes were the order of the day for the Croat.
Wilson Palacios - 6
Foiled a few threatening attacks. Could have had one goal for himself, but for Kirkland's acrobatics.
Tom Huddlestone - 5.5
Wigan's lack of firepower meant he spent more time up the pitch. Had one outrageous attempt that whooshed past Chris Kirkland's left post.
Niko Kranjcar - 7
Nothing really spectacular but owes his high rating to one momnet of genius where he skinned his marker before a perfectly weighted pass to Defoe with the outside of his right foot. Oh - he also scored a corker.
Aaron Lennon - 10
Made his marker Erik Edman look like a village green player. Four assists and a goal are testament that he might just be the best winger in the premier league.
Peter Crouch - 7
Scored the opener with, surprise, surprise - his head. Unsettled Wigan throughout with his lanky frame.
Jermain Defoe - 10
Five goals. That is all.
Substitutes
David Bentley - 7
Came along when Spurs were six up and scored a superb free kick. Glimpses of the player who once promised so much.
Sebastien Bassong - n.a
Jermaine Jenas - n.a
Wigan
Chris Kirkland - 6
Yes, inspite of the fact that he picked the ball 9 times out of the net. It would have gone past double digits had it not been for the shotstopper.
Emmerson Boyce - 4
Was to blame for the first goal. And that opened the floodgates, did it not?
Titus Bramble - 3
Failed to close down the marauding Defoe on more than one occasion.
Erik Edman - 0
The left back must have been wondering why took up football as a profession. If Ferguson were his manager, Edman would probably be trying to get the hair dryer out of unreachable places.
Mario Melchiot - 3
Was probably thanking his lucky stars that he was not marking Lennon.
Mohamed Diame - 3
Got absolutely blasted away in midfield by the Spurs.
Hendry Thomas - 3
Same as his partner.
Paul Scharner - 6
Only Wigan player to move forward with any belief. Scored Wigan's sole goal, which was a definite handball. Cries of cheat not far behind?
Hugo Rodallega - 5
Had the worst outing of his Wigan career. Gone was the power and accuracy, to be replaced by an unsteady hulk.
Charles N'Zogbia - 4
Barely featured in the game.
Jason Scotland - 4
Did not get any service from his midfielders.
Substitutes
Jordi Gomez - 3
Came on to replace the ineffective Thomas, but nothing could stop Spurs on this day.
