Man City-Arsenal Player Ratings

Man City-Arsenal Player Ratings

Eugene YS Han takes a look at the star performers in the Carling Cup quarter-final between Manchester City and Arsenal.

Manchester City

Given: 6
Hardly troubled between the posts. Will be glad to keep a clean sheet.

Richards: 6
Did not have much to do on the right side of defence.

Toure: 6
Kept Vela under-wraps all game - Toure probably did the same when he was at Arsenal.

Lescott: 6
Looked assured in defence.

Bridge: 6
Tried to bomb forward with every chance.

Wright-Phillips: 8 (off 77th min)
Shaun Wright-Phillips was easily City's best player on the pitch and topped his display with a well-taken goal.

Ireland: 7
One of the creative force in midfield for City and Arsenal struggled to keep tabs on his surging runs.

Barry: 6
Protected the back four well.

Bellamy: 7
Tore Arsenal apart on the left as Eboue and Song were found wanting.

Tevez: 7
He was at his usual busy self and fully deserved to score City's first goal which helped open the floodgates.

Adebayor: 7
Dominated  the Arsenal defence kept them on their toes all game.

Subs:
Kompany 6 (on 74th min)

Weiss: 7 (on 77th min)
Came on and capped a polished display with a great team goal.

Arsenal

Fabianski: 5
Was not at fault for the goals but lack organisational skills. Vito Mannone could soon take the second-choice spot.

Eboue: 4
Was he even playing?

Song Billong: 5
Showed some composure in the centre of defence despite being played out of postition.

Silvestre: 4
He was the most experienced player on the field but failed to lead by example. Was unable to cope with City's waves of attack.

Traore: 5
His inexperience told as Wright-Phillips ran him ragged on the left flank.

Eastmond: 5 (off 68th min)
Was totally out of his depth at the City of Manchester stadium.

Merida: 5
Overworked and overwhelmed.

Ramsey: 6
Showed glimpses of class but was isolated in a poor Arsenal team performance.

Rosicky: 4
Wasn't at his best and was often caught in possession. At fault for City's first goal.

Wilshere: 5
The youngster was strangley subdued which also helped explained the Arsenal performance.

Vela: 6
Tried his best as a lone striker but was dominated by Toure and Lescott. Could do with more support.

Sub:
Watt 5 (on 68th min)
