Liverpool 1- 1 Chelsea - 19/08/2007



Fernando Torres opened his Liverpool account with a sublime goal on his Anfield debut after just 16 minutes against Chelsea. Taking the ball onto his stride from Steven Gerrard's pass, Torres tore past Tal Ben-Haim on the right and rolled the ball past a startled Petr Cech in goal. Torres has arrived.

Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham - 07-10-2007

With Liverpool seemingly heading to defeat against Tottenham, Torres showed he is no shrinking violet by attacking a Steve Finnan cross in the crowded penalty area to head in Liverpool's equaliser in stoppage time. It was not a pretty goal but it showed Torres is no one-trick pony.

Liverpool 3-2 Middlesbrough - 23-02-2008

Torres claimed his first league hat-trick against Middlesbrough at Anfield. Two of his goals showed his predatory instincts when he latched onto defensive mistakes.

Man City 2-3 Liverpool - 05-10-2008



The Spain international again showed his predatory instincts after he headed in Gerrard's corner for Liverpool's equaliser. Torres had earlier pulled a goal back for Liverpool.

Man Utd 1-4 Liverpool - 14-03-2009

In one of the shock results of last season, Liverpool thumped Manchester United at Old Trafford where Torres played a starring role. El Nino hounded Nemanja Vidic into a mistake and brushed off the Serbian's challenge as he tried to bring down Torres to slot home Liverpool's equaliser.

Liverpool 4-0 Blackburn - 11-04-2009

Widely regarded as one of his best goals for Liverpool so far, Torres gave Liverpool the lead with a stunning volley after just five minutes into the game. The volley was reminiscent of Marco van Basten's goal for Holland at the European Championship final in 1988.
