The Fans' Voice: Birmingham's season so far
Birmingham City fan Kevin Ball tells Eugene YS Han his thoughts about the Blues' performance five months into the 2009/10 Premier League season.
Up to this point in the season, what is the best or worst your club can achieve this coming season?
Kevin Ball: The best I guess finish as champions, the worse get relegated as both are still possible! However in reality I think we will finish mid-table.
What do you think about Carson Yeung?
Kevin Ball: Well rather than just Carson Yeung, I'll answer the question as the new administration.
They have bought a real lift to the club and have re-connected the club to the fans. One example of this is a fans forum where they have invited representatives of supporter clubs and websites that promote the club to be a part of the club. I have the privilege of being part of that and are looking forward to see what happens.
Clearly the boost has got through to the players too! However as with any of these things, and evaluation can only be done over time - so ask me again next year!
Who is your key player?
Kevin Ball: This is REALLY tough. Several players are performing out of their skins at the moment. I'm going to go for Roger Johnson however. Our defensive record has given us the platform to build this run and Roger, (with Scott), have bought stability and resilience in the middle of our defence. It's no surprise that they are being talked about for possible England call-ups.

Who is the unsung hero in your team?
Kevin Ball: For me it has to be Barry Ferguson for his work rate. He is a box to box player and is able to both break up oppositions play and create our play. I'm sure others will have different ideas, but he's mine.
Which new signing has impressed you most? Which one the least?
Kevin Ball: Most impressive signing? - See the key player section! As far as the least, in the present side none - however Bent was a particularly ineffective signing and I doubt he'll play for us again.
Which area do you think your team needs strengthening in January?
Kevin Ball: Three places. We need a goalscorer. Chucho and Jerome work hard, but they have been unable to score freely as yet. We need someone to do that. It's a worry that our leading goal scorer is a midfielder. Secondly we need a left back. Ridgewell has done pretty well, however has been found out several times. it's only because he has been superbly supported by his fellow defenders that more damage hasn't been done. Finally I would like to see a creative midfielder with pace, just to give us another option.
Young player to look out for?
Kevin Ball: I'll say Joe Hart, although he isn't our player. He is a brilliant keeper and a possible England regular.
What is joysandsorrows.co.uk ?
Kevin Ball: The site contains a blog and a forum. Our tag is "Following Blues From Near and Far." We have a number of contributors who write blog articles and our site statistics are improving all the time.
We have recently interviewed Kenny Burns, and have another Blues legend interview to come in January. We have highlighted supporter clubs from around the world and have regular match reports. However we enjoy providing articles of a different perspective regarding the Blues too.
