La Liga Team of the Week 15

La Liga Team of the Week 15

Its an all-Madrid affair in attack for Kelvin Leong in his La Liga Team of the week 15. All €184.8 million worth of it.

Diego Alves - Almeria

He was the only goalkeeper besides Victor Valdes to keep a cleansheet this weekend. Despite Diego Forlan and his Atletico Madrid team-mates launching waves of attack and bearing down on Alves' goal, the stopper never flinched as he kept everything out. Atletico must be wondering how they managed to walk away without scoring.

Rafael Marquez - Barcelona

The Mexican defender has been at Barcelona long enough to have witnessed some of the best dead-ball specialists strike a perfect free-kick. People like Ronaldinho, Xavi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o do it on a regular basis but for a defender to step up and curl a free-kick right into the top left corner, Marquez deserves his time in the spotlight.

Andoni Iraola - Atletico Bilbao

Bilbao has been in good form this season and look back to their muscling best with the likes of Iraola leading from the back. They not only win games these days, they do it in style. A 4-1 win over Tenerife to kick things off on Sunday night with the right-back getting onto the scoresheet.

Ivica Dragutinovic - Sevilla

The left-back best known for his bust-up with Felipe Scolari. Dragutinovic never shies away from a challenge and is solid as a rock in defence. Showed the other side of his game when he scored Sevilla's second goal while also providing the visitors with tons of options down the left flank when he went on the overlap against Mallorca.

Luis Moran - Sporting Gijon

Gijon's comfortable 3-1 win over Zaragoza was down to Moran's creativity and determination to get past his marker whenever he was presented with the chance. Great flank play which ended with him scoring Gijon's second goal. Great outing.

Guardado - Deportivo La Coruna

Guardado is Deportivo's most influential player this season. Enough said!

Jesus Navas - Sevilla

Navas's fear of flying has restricted his chances of a move abroad but the winger has every chance of a move to the Spanish big guns if he continues to sizzle like he has this season. One of the top wingers in the Spanish La Liga this season and was fundamental in Sevilla's 3-1 win over Mallorca.

Thierry Henry - Barcelona

Marquez scored the second free-kick in Barca's 4-0 pounding of Racing Santander but it was Henry who started proceedings with his very own version of a free-kick that we have come to expect of the great Frenchman. No hands used this time, just pure artistry.

Kaka - Real Madrid

Criticise Kaka as much as you like but when the Brazilian playmaker decides to turn it on, he is one of the best players going forward. Two goals and a ton of assists that rounded up a great night for the Bernabeu faithful.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid

His free-kick was perfect but it was his unselfish play throughout Madrid's 6-2 rout of Villarreal that epitomized his maturity since joining Manchester United as a youngster from Sporting Lisbon. Ronaldo showed that you don't need to score all the goals to be the best player on the pitch.

Gonzalo Higuain - Real Madrid

If Diego Maradona had started Higuain in all of Argentina's World Cup qualifiers, the South American giants wouldn't have had to wait till the last game to book their place in South Africa. Another two goals to show that he is the Los Merengues top hitman ahead of the expensive Karim Benzema and the legendary Raul.
