Maldini points finger at ‘bad luck’

Paolo Maldini was scratching his head as to how his team lost to Bologna and has concluded that it was purely bad luck.

The Rossoneri were confident of this match against the newly promoted side, but came up at the wrong end with a 2-1 defeat.

Club vice president Adriano Galliani was so traumatised by the event that he convened an emergency meeting with all the coaches and technical staff and demanded an explanation.

The Milan captain gave his verdict on the game, and it was not good.

"Unfortunately we started where we left off from last season but there are a couple of reasons for the result," said Maldini. "I don't think we deserved to lose. We made a few errors and I think we should have got more from the game. Once again it was bad luck which also hindered us."

"I don't think it was easy for Carlo Ancelotti with so many strikers. It only works if you take your chances early in the game," continued Il Capitano.

The long-serving defender then went on to give an insight on his current form and offered some information about the match against Genoa next weekend, insisting that it was a must-win for the Rossoneri.

"We have to wait for all our players to get back from international duties and we are all currently working hard to go to Genoa and take back the points we missed out on in week one," said Maldini "I am feeling fine and I will continue to work hard in order to find the best form."

Milan have touted themselves as title challengers all pre-season. The defeat against Bologna may suggest that they still have a way to go before they are able to stake that claim.
