The BPL Numbers Game 6

Eugene YS Han looks at the footie statistics that mattered from the sixth weekend of the Barclays Premier League.

0 - The number of goals Liverpool have conceded away from home this season. Also the number of wins Tottenham have in the Premier League. Spurs, together with Grimsby Town, are the only two clubs without a league win across the four divisions.

3 – The total number of goals Geovanni has scored against the ‘Big Four’ in his club career. Also the same number of consecutive wins in the Merseyside derby for Liverpool. This is also the total number of league goals Fernando Torres have scored against Everton. 3 is also the total number of red cards dished out.

5 – The number of successive defeats suffered by Newcastle United. Also the number of penalties awarded  - of which two were hotly disputed. 5 is also the number of ex-Tottenham players in the 18-man Portsmouth squad that faced Spurs. Two of them scored in Pompey's 2-0 win.

6 – The number of consecutive League games Aston Villa have fielded the same eleven: Friedel, L. Young, Laursen, C Davies, Shorey, Barry, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Agbonlahor, A. Young, Carew. This is also the same number of matches Liverpool have drawn at half-time. The last Liverpool player to score a first-half goal in a league game is Jermaine Pennant who opened the scoring in a 2-0 win at Fulham in April.  Also, this is the number of away wins achieved by West Bromwich Albion in 60 Premier League away fixtures.

8 - Hull City's points after five games equaling Derby County's total of the whole of last season.

10 – The total number of draws in the Premier League so far (none this round).

12 – Years Arsene Wenger has been at Arsenal. Also, the number of points Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the latest round of NFC manager.

17 – The total number of sendings-off in the Merseyside derby in 33 Premier League games.

24 – The total number of goals scored last weekend.

45 – The total number of bookings last weekend – an increase of nine bookings from the last round.

90 – The number of wins for Liverpool at Goodison Park in 179 Merseyside derbies in the league.

150 – The number of games Edwin van der Sar has played for Manchester United.

350 – The number of games Jussi Jaaskelainen has played for Bolton.

400 – The number of Premier League appearances Paul Scholes has made for Manchester United.

US$27, 600 – The amount FIFA fined Croatia for racist abuse in the World Cup qualifier against England. In 2004, Spain were fined US$91, 800 by UEFA for a similar offence against the same country.

374, 996 – The total attendance over the weekend.

- Hull City’s surprise win at the Emirates was Arsenal's first loss at home for 25 matches. The last time they met Hull in the league, Arsenal had only been residents in north London for one year, having just moved to Highbury from their Woolwich roots, some 93 years ago.
